Translation · Proofreading · Editing
Every text
at its very best.
I'm María Mónica Clavijo López, a trilingual translator and interpreter specialising in medical, dental and literary translation. I translate with the precision science demands and the sensitivity language deserves.
Clinical rigour
Over six years of dental practice back every medical translation. The terms aren't looked up — they're known.
Literary sensitivity
Language is not a code; it's a living organism. Every project receives stylistic and cultural attention, not just terminology.
Truly trilingual
Native Spanish, accredited C1 English and certified C1 French (DELF B2, DUEF C1). Three languages, one signature.
Services
MMCL │ Boutique Lingüística offers translation, proofreading and editing in Spanish, English and French. Every project receives the same dedication, whether a scientific paper, a graphic novel or a corporate contract.
Medical & dental translation
Scientific papers, package inserts, IFU, clinical trials, ISO 13485, medical records. Backed by a Dentistry degree and 6+ years of clinical practice.
Literary & editorial translation
Novels, graphic novels, picture books, children's and YA fiction, romance, thriller, mystery, cozy mystery, cozy fantasy, fantasy, historical fiction, memoir, essays and self-help.
Legal & corporate translation
Contracts, compliance, due diligence, legal marketing, sustainability reports, IP. (Not sworn / no official seal).
Subtitling & transcription
Standard subtitles, deaf/hard-of-hearing (SDH) subtitles, and audio/video transcription.
I also offer APA 7 application, editorial layout and grammar, orthotypographic and stylistic proofreading.
Rates are set after a personalised quote: I need to know the document type, length, language pair, delivery date and complexity. For an exact quote I prefer to review the file; without it the quote will be approximate.
María Mónica
Clavijo López
I'm a trilingual translator and interpreter (Spanish–English–French) and a professional dentist. From childhood I was surrounded by languages and cultures, travelling, studying and discovering how words open worlds.
I studied Translation and Interpreting expecting to use my languages — English and French — but something deeper happened: I fell in love with Spanish. I understood that translation isn't just changing words; it's expanding the way we think. It's building bridges. It's giving ideas a new life.
My mission is for every text — literary, medical, legal or creative — to preserve its soul when it arrives in a new language.

Specialties
Four areas where technical competence and linguistic sensitivity combine to deliver results that go beyond translation.
Medical & dental translation
Medical translation is not improvised. MMCL's differentiator is the Dentistry qualification and over six years of active clinical practice in Colombia.
- Comprehensive dentistry: implantology, oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics
- Clinical trials and regulatory documents
- Drug package inserts and IFU
- Medical device registrations (ISO 13485)
- Scientific articles for publication
Literary & editorial translation
Literary translation is a vocation. My BA dissertation was the Latin American Spanish translation of Bea Wolf (Zach Weinersmith): heroic verse, kennings and three simultaneous reading levels.
- Romance, thriller, fantasy, historical fiction, cozy mystery
- Graphic novels, comics, picture books
- Children's and YA fiction
- Memoir, literary essays, travel writing
- Editorial layout (InDesign) and Amazon KDP
Legal & corporate translation
Services for the corporate market with terminological rigour and guaranteed confidentiality. No sworn translator seal. Services for non-official corporate use.
- Commercial contracts and compliance
- Internal policies and due diligence
- Legal marketing and sustainability reports
- Intellectual property
Audiovisual translation & subtitling
The EN→ES and FR→ES combination is especially sought after: very few Latin American translators hold French at C1 level. Full command of professional subtitling tools.
- SRT/VTT subtitles and SDH (for the deaf and hard of hearing)
- Closed captions SCC
- Adapted dubbing scripts
- Software: Aegisub, Caption Hub, Subtitle Workshop
